Summer Reading Vacation
Check out all the fun we had this year with
Summer Reading Vacation!
This free program was open to students ages 4 through entering 6th grade. Summer Reading Vacation includes games, read aloud, crafts/activities, games, buddy reading, and snacks. This year, our theme was: Farming & Our Community. With the help of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, we explored why farms and their products matter in our everyday lives. The kids loved all of the hands-on activities and crafts, as well as the games and books.
Summer Reading Vacation was held at:
University Village, hosted by Immanuel Lutheran Church (DeKalb)
Mason Manor Apartment Complex (Sycamore)
Westminster Presbyterian Church (DeKalb)
Christ Community Church Outreach Center (DeKalb)
Gideon Court Apartment Complex, hosted by Crossview Church (DeKalb)
Genoa VFW, hosted by Faith United Methodist Church
thank you volunteers!
Summer Reading Vacation was run by over 40 caring and compassionate adult volunteers. This was a wonderful group of men and women who love to have fun and have a desire to impact the lives of local students in a positive way! These programs would not have been possible without their time, energy, and love.
